Cloud Learning: Using email

Cloud learning is all about harnessing cloud services for composing and delivering learning modules.  In 2008, I had used a combination of  web tools for conducting seminars.  In this post, I describe the use of email as the starting point in building cloud learning system. Email provides a student a first identity on both web and as well as in a cloud learning system. Email also provides the indentity and first point of contact the course coordinator.

Background
This time I am teaching a course titlted Entrepreneurship, Management and Protection of IP for the fifth semester of engineering. This is a common course under our newly acquired autonomy. As a first step towards delivering course resources on the web ( in addition to class room), I created an email empip2009@gmail.com

This email will be used for the following
  • As the point of contact for all course related communications such as announcement of events, availability  of course related resources
  • As a first identity to use other cloud resources such as blogs, groups, docs etc.

Towards Cloud Learning

Today we have all the resources required for the successful delivery of cloud learning.  Cloud learning is a teaching and learning system in which teaching is delivered on the cloud. Cloud learning harness freely available cloud services such as emails, blogs,  docs, groups and an array of tools to compose and deliver learning modules over the cloud.
In this blog, we report our experiements in using cloud resources in planning and delivering a course in SDM College of Engineering & Technology, Dharwad
